Create an Artificial Lighting in Photoshop CS/CC

Hey there! Welcome to the Photoshop Tutorial!
This one's the first time I'm doing a tutorial on Photoshop, today I'll tell you the way to create an artificial lighting in Photoshop. No matter which version you use this will work on all of them!

Since I've been using the CS3 Version, if you want to download the super compressed portable version of Photoshop CS3 in just 48MB then check the link below:

Download Here!

So without further ado! Let's get started:

Step number :

1.  Open the Photoshop CS 3 and open the image file into it.

2. Once image is on the stage, press ctrl+J to duplicate the background layer! It'll be unlocked and duplication leaves the original photo unharmed.
3. Now my favorite part! Let's play around the image! No... I'm kidding. Go to the bottom of the layers tab and create a new adjustment layer of Curves.
4. Follow the edits as in the screenshot below!  And don't forget to change the blend mode of Curves to hardlight!
5. Once you've done that click on the layer mask of Curves.
6. Once layer mask is selected you can now paint on it to mask objects or to show them! I'll make another post later to explaing the Masks in depth. So moving forward...
7. Make sure the mask of Curves is selected and your foreground & background colors are black and white, if they are not then press D to convert them to black and white.
8. Now select the Brush tool or press B on the keyboard, make sure Curves layer is selected and you've selected the mask on it.
9. Now press the Ctrl+i to invert the mask, this will cause the curves adjustment to vanish but don't worry! We are about to paint back the brightness of headlight.
10. Now just paint on the area were you want light, in our case it's headlight of the bike!
11. As you paint make sure you paint a bit extra to make it look like as glow. And change the brush opacity to your liking and flow to 10-15% to get more natural light.
12. Once you've painted go to layers tab and pull down the fill of Curves adjustment layer.
13. Create another empty layer on Curves, to do this press Ctrl+Shift+N together. Name the layer Light or Lighting.
14. Now select the empty layer we just created and change it's blend mode to ColorDodge. And decrease the fill about 70-75% and paint white on the headlight. As you paint you'll get the idea of how this works. Just simply paint on the areas that might be in your artificial lighting.
15. Once done you'll have to export the image. But before doing anything save your project file by pressing Ctrl+S and name anything you want and hit save. Now to export your edited image press Ctrl+Shift+S and save as menu will appear. Press the drop-down and select JPEG or PNG and click save!
